Christmas at Vipassana

One of my prime reasons for choosing to serve at Vipassana over Christmas was to escape the external worlds obsession with gathering together at Christmas and the commercial imperative to purchase gifts.

Joan, the Vipassana Kitchen co-ordinator, wisely chose to swap the day 10 Lasagne recipe for the scheduled Christmas day menu of Cottage pie.  Lasagne being a great choice. Plus, with one of the old students sitting the course having offered to fund some extras for Christmas day, the menu was a little different to the standard no-frills but (usually) appealing vegetarian menu. With mangos, strawberries, cherries, whipped cream and chocolate being added to the menu.

Even better for me was the phone call I had with my brother on Christmas day evening and the email I received from son #1.
